Wero
This payment method is in beta.
Wero is a European digital payment solution developed by the European Payments Initiative (EPI). It is built on SEPA Instant Credit Transfer rails, enabling instant Account-to-Account (A2A) payments directly from consumers' bank accounts. We expect Wero to be available in Germany & Belgium (Q3 ‘26), France & the Netherlands (October ‘26) and Luxembourg (January ‘27).
Payments with Wero should be instant depending on bank
While Wero payments settle instantly via SEPA rails, final execution remains subject to real-time automated fraud and compliance controls from both the issuing and acquiring banks.
Wero is a non-guaranteed payment method, similar to credit cards or Klarna. Although the SEPA transfer occurs in seconds, the payment is not immediately final. Shoppers retain the right to initiate a dispute or chargeback for up to 120 days. You can find more information regarding this here.
How it works
- The shopper selects Wero at checkout.
- The shopper is redirected to their bank's interface, Wero app or Wero hosted payment page.
- The shopper authenticates using their banking credentials or biometrics.
- The payment is authorised and funds are transferred instantly via SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (for single immediate payments).
- Mollie receives confirmation from the Bank and updates the payment status (*see payment status).
- The shopper is redirected back to your website.
Note: Wero is a non-guaranteed payment method. Chargebacks are possible. See the Chargebacks section for details.

Activation
You can activate Wero via your Mollie Dashboard. We will review your merchant account based on standard eligibility criteria including MCC (Merchant Category Code) requirements.
Wero is currently in beta. Contact your Mollie account manager or reach out to our support team to request access.
Payment statuses
Wero payments follow the standard Mollie payment status flow.
Wero is using the SCT instant rails, however a Wero payment may briefly remain in a pending status. The time it takes to transition to paid is dependent on real-time fraud monitoring and compliance verification executed by the issuing and acquiring banks.
Chargebacks
Wero is a non-guaranteed payment method, which means chargebacks are possible. The chargeback window is:
- 120 days from the transaction date (standard)
- 540 days for certain MCCs (delayed delivery)
If a chargeback is filed, you will be notified in the EPI portal. Mollie will deduct the chargeback amount from your balance.
