Reconciling your Mollie Business Account
You can easily reconcile your Mollie Business Account statements with your accounting records.
To do this, you need to have:
- Mollie Business Account statements
- Active bank account in the accounting software of your choice
Setting up bank account
The first step is to add your Mollie Business Account IBAN to your accounting platform.
To find your Mollie Business Account IBAN, navigate to Dashboard → Accounts, select your Business Account, and use the Copy button to copy your IBAN. You can now add it within your accounting software.
The process for adding it varies by platform, so refer to your accounting software's help center for specific instructions. You have to add one bank account (within your accounting software) per one Mollie Business Account. Always update your platform when creating new Mollie Business Accounts.
Important considerations:
- Account type: create your Mollie Business Account as an actual Bank Account, not a PSP account.
- Separate accounts: your Mollie Business Account is a separate account in your bookkeeping (compared to your PSP account). To showcase your PSP transactions, you should have a separate PSP account already set up or you need to create one if you don't have any yet.
Syncing Transactions
On a regular basis (daily/weekly/monthly depending on your volume), you'll import or sync all transactions from your Mollie Business Account into your accounting platform. You can set it up in two ways:
- Bank Connection - many accounting platforms connect to Mollie, see an overview of all available integrations.
- File import - manually export transaction files from Mollie Dashboard and import them into your software.
Matching Transactions
Matching Mollie Business Account transactions follows the standard bank reconciliation process.
When a transaction in your Business Account matches a transaction in your accounting records, you mark both as reconciled.
Many accounting platforms support automated reconciliation and will find matches based on matching transaction details (such as amount, date, reference number etc). This can significantly speed up the reconciliation process, though you should always review suggested matches to ensure accuracy.
The reconciliation is set up properly (and is up to date) when your Mollie Business Account balance matches your accounting platform's balance. This way you can be sure that all transactions are matched correctly.
Matching PSP Settlements
If your Mollie PSP account settles into your Mollie Business Account, you will receive a net settlement amount via your bank statement.
To understand the specification of the net amount and how this relates to your sales and Mollie invoice, you can use your Mollie Settlement file. The payout is matched based on the settlement reference.
Bank Connection
Mollie's Bank Connection automatically syncs your transactions to your bookkeeping software, saving you time and always keeping your financial records up-to-date.
Once connected, all transactions from your Mollie Business Account appear in your accounting platform, reducing errors and making reconciliation faster.
We support over 30 bookkeeping platforms with two types of delivery:
-
Bank Connection - connection runs continuously in the background and transactions automatically sync to your bookkeeping software every 30 minutes, providing you and your accountant with real-time insights.
Only transactions created on or after enabling Bank Connection are synced automatically. Historical data isn't included. If you need past transactions for your bookkeeping, you can export them manually.
Available for:
Exact Online, Twinfield, Yuki, SnelStart, Moneybird, Minox, Datev, QuickBooks.
-
Automated exports - if your bookkeeping platform is not available via Bank Connection, we also offer automated exports, which gives you more control over when transactions are exported to your bookkeeping systems and works with any software that accepts standard bank statement formats.
Transaction files are automatically generated and are sent to your email address or Dropbox on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Each export file is password-protected for security.Available for:
AccountView, AFAS & AFAS SB+, Asperion, Boekhoudpakket algemeen (other bookkeeping platforms), Cash, Davilex, Exact Globe, Exact Multivers, Informer, Jortt, Kleisteen, King Software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, MoneyMonk, NetSuite, Odoo, Oracle, Reeleezee, SAP, Silvasoft, Unit4 Financials & Unit4, Visma eAccounting & Visma.net, Xero.

Exported data fields
Beyond the basic transaction details (date, amount, and balance), your exported transactions include additional data, such as:
Transaction ID — unique reference number for each transaction
Execution date — date and time when the transaction was initiated
Booking date — date and time when the transaction was processed by the bank
Amount — transaction amount, automatically converted to your bank account's currency
Currency — currency of the transaction (matches your bank account currency after conversion)
Description — transaction details or payment description (up to 140 characters)
Counterparty name — name of the person or business who sent or received the payment
Counterparty bank account — IBAN of the sending or receiving account
