Additional terminal features
This article covers extra payment features available for in-person payments and how to use them: from collecting tips to closing out your takings at the end of a shift, these tools give you more control over your Point of Sale setup.
Tipping
When tipping is turned on, the terminal prompts your customer to add a tip after you enter the payment amount. Your customer sees four tip options, with three of them being shown as a percentage of the transaction and the last one allowing for custom amounts. The tip is added to the total and processed as a part of the same payment.
You can turn tipping on in your Mollie Web App:
- In the Mollie Web app, go to In-person payments.
- Select the terminal you want to manage.
- Go to Settings at the top of your screen.
- Toggle Tipping.
- Customise default percentages by clicking Edit.
Reporting
Your terminal can produce reports that summarise your transactions, which helps you reconcile your finances for the bookkeeping purposes.
Two report types are available:
- End of Day report - summary of all transactions since your last End of Day report. It shows the number of transactions and the total amount, and it starts a new reporting period.
- X report - shows the amount and number of transactions since your last End of Day report, broken down by card type, such as Visa or Mastercard. An X report does not start a new reporting period, so you can run it as often as you like during the day.
- Daily statistics shows you an overview of your transaction volume per hour, visualised in a digestible format.
To create a report:
- On your terminal, tap the screen 3 times to open Settings.
- Enter your PIN.
- Select Reports.
- Choose the type of report you need.
You can create reports on any Mollie terminal, but only PAX A920 Pro can print them. On terminals without a built-in printer, you can still generate the report and send it via email.
Local sale / Manual amount entry
You can enter a payment amount directly on the terminal, also known as a local sale. This is handy when you are taking payments without a connected point-of-sale system, like a market stall or a pop-up.
To turn local sale on in your terminal settings:
- On your terminal, open Settings.
- Enter your PIN.
- Select More.
- Enable local sale by ticking the box.
Customising result screen
After each payment, the terminal briefly displays the result of a transaction.
By default it is set to 4 seconds. If you need the result to stay on the screen for longer (e.g., when your staff is preparing an order while the customer pays), you can change how long it stays on the screen.
- On your terminal, open Settings.
- Enter your PIN.
- Select More, then Persist result screen.
- Set your preferred duration.
This setting applies per device, so you need to update each terminal individually.
Adding custom logo
By default, your terminal shows the Mollie logo on its home screen. You can replace it with your own logo across all your terminals, so the device matches your branding.
To set this up, contact Mollie Support and provide them with your logo.
For the best result, we recommend choosing an .svg file and a logo that is visible on a black background.
